Smoked Berry Sangria

Here's a rare treat - a recipe from Melissa's new book, FANNING THE FLAMES!
"I love traveling to Spain, and I love red wine. I also love jamón de ibérico, which you can buy by the cone in the markets there. I'd happily have a cone of ham in one hand and a glass of sangria in the other. The smokiness of the berries in this recipe provides a nice mellow flavor and really enhances the drink."
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
1/2 cup fresh raspberries
1/4 cup sugar
1 whole orange, cut into chunks
1 750ml bottle red wine
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
1/3 cup brandy
Ice
Berries, mint, and orange slices for garnish
Preheat a smoker to cook at 225F. Place all the berries on a sheet pan and smoke for 10 to 15 minutes, just to let the berries get a subtle smoke flavor. Place the berries in a pitcher, add the sugar and orange, and muddle with a wooden spoon to break up the fruit and release the juices. Add the wine, orange juice, and brandy, and let steep in the fridge for 10 minutes or up to 3 hours. The flavor will improve the longer you let it steep.
Fill glasses with ice and garnish with berries, mint, and orange slices, then fill with the sangria.
